How I Met Your Mother is a joint production by Bays & Thomas Productions and 20th Century Fox Television and syndicated by 20th Television. The show started in 2005 and ended in 2014. The story is narrated by Ted Mosby, the protagonist, to his children. He narrates the story on how he meets their mother.

The episodes start with him narrating his memories with his friends Robin Scherbatsky, Marshall Erikson , Barney Stinson, and Lily Aldrin. The episodes are very hysteric and funny. The characters have strong backgrounds and personalities making the show very fun to watch. Barney Stinson, played by Neil Patrick Harris, is a typical playboy. He picks up girls in the strangest ways possible and is always in a suit.

Marshall Erikson, played by Jason Segel, plays the role of a sweet and innocent man who is in deep love with Lily. Lily Aldrin, played by Alyson Hannigan, is a quirky girlfriend. Robin Scherbatsky, played by Cobie Smoulders, is a beautiful Canandian woman trying to fit in the city of New York. And finally, Ted Mosby, played by Josh Radnor, is a man who wants to believe in true love and a fairy tale love story. 

All these characters really make the show amazing. The story of every episode is interesting, and has great direction which brings this show to the Friends level. New Girl is an American television sitcom created by Elizabeth Meriwether for the Fox Broadcasting Company that originally aired between 2011 and 2018. Under the working title Chicks & Dicks, the series revolves around a kooky teacher, Jess, play by Zooey Deschanel, after she moves into a Los Angeles loft with three men, Nick, played by Jake Johnson, Schmidt ,played by Max Greenfield, and Winston, played by Lamorne Morris; Jess’ best friend Cece , played by Hannah Simone is also part of the series.

The show combines comedy and drama elements as the characters, who are in their early thirties, deal with maturing relationships and career choices.

Most episodes are anchored around Jess, who, according to series creator Meriwether, would have played a side character on other shows. Jess’s character is very cheerful and bright which brings life to the show. This show is seven seasons long and each episode lasts up to twenty-five minutes like Friends. The Characters have interesting personalities and back stories for us to watch and enjoy.

The show has been nominated for several awards, including five Golden Globe Awards and five Primetime Emmy Awards. New Girl received favorable responses from critics and was named one of the best new comedies of the 2011 fall season. The pilot episode drew 10.28 million U.S. viewers and a 4.8 adults 18–49 demo rating, making it the highest-rated fall debut for a Fox scripted show since 2001.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine is an American police procedural comedy television series created by Dan Goor and Michael Schur. This show revolves around six people who work at the ninety-ninth precinct in Brooklyn. The protagonist Jake Peralta’s role is played by Andy Samberg who was already famous for his works in the SNL. So, the character is an immature but talented NYPD detective in Brooklyn’s fictional 99th Precinct, who often comes into conflict with his new commanding officer, the serious and stern Captain Raymond Holt, played by Andre Braugher.

The rest of the cast features Stephanie Beatriz as Rosa Diaz, Terry Crews as Terry Jeffords, Melissa Fumero as Amy Santiago, Joe Lo Truglio as Charles Boyle, Chelsea Peretti as Gina Linetti, Dirk Blocker as Michael Hitchcock, and Joel McKinnon Miller as Norm Scully. Brooklyn Nine-Nine premiered on September 17, 2013. On May 10, 2018, Fox canceled the series after five seasons.

The following day, NBC picked up the series for a sixth season; it premiered on NBC on January 10, 2019. On February 27, NBC renewed the series for a seventh season, which premiered on February 6, 2020. The series was renewed for an eighth season in November 2019, ahead of the premiere of its seventh season.

This series is comparatively recent and still gained a huge number of fans and a high level of popularity in just a small span of time. The series shows good character development with the progress of the story and also represents today’s culture. Joe Prichett, played by Ed O’Neil, an old aged man who somehow manages to marry a very young, beautiful and stunning Coloumbian woman,Gloria Prichett, played by Sofia Vergara. She is a divorcee with a young middle schooler son who is interested in the ‘cheesiest’ things that exist, Manny Prichett, played by Rico Rodriguez.

The Dunphy’s involve the characters of Claire Dunphy, played by Julie Bowen, basically runs the family, Phil Dunphy, played by Ty Burrell, who is the husband of Claire and is a man who is very carefree of what the world thinks of him. And their children, Hailey, played by Sarah Hyland, who is a very popular highschool girl and she is always in a relationship, Alex, played by Ariel Winters, is a very smart kid who knows the answer for everything in the books but not so much in life, and Luke, played by Nolan Gould, who is always seeking to do the silliest things which he finds interesting.

The last family is a gay couple who just adopt a baby. Cameron Tucker, played by Eric Stonestreet, who fits right in every stereotype about gay people and his husband, Mitchell Prichett, played by Jesse Tyler Ferguson, who is very aware and alert about social attention and their adopted baby Lily, which makes the final family. This show ran for eleven successful seasons and the character development is very crucial in the show. As the kids grow up and the parents realize that their kids are slowly slipping out of their hands, it gives wholesome warmth to the show. This show recently ended after running for ten to eleven long years.

How Modern Family is most similar to Friends?

This show has left behind a huge legacy like Friends. Modern Family has won 22 Primetime Emmy Awards and 6 Writers Guild of America Awards. The show also later received a GLSEN Respect Award for its portrayal of “positive images and storylines that reflect a diverse America, including the depiction of a family headed by a gay couple.”

In 2010, Modern Family was nominated for five Television Critics Association Awards.Like Friends, to reinforce the idea of an ensemble cast, the cast all submitted themselves in the Supporting Actor and Actress categories instead of Lead Actor and Actress for the 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards.
